As the title says I made my first cornbread. I followed a very basic recipe.
Cornbread is a very famous side dish in the USA when it comes to BBQ.
It’s easy to make and finally I can say I like it – very much.
It will definitely not be the last time I make cornbread.
- 1 1/4 cup of milk
- 1 cup of cornmeal
- 1 cup of all purpose flour
- 4 tablespoons of baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon of salt
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
Preheat oven/grill with skillet in it at 425°F (220°C). Mix milk and cornmeal and let it sit for 10 minutes.
After resting mix the rest of the ingredients.
Oil skillet with left over bacon grease, add mixture to skillet and cook about 15-18 minutes until toothpick comes out clean.
Depending on the skillet size you may need to vary cooking time or amount of the ingredients.
I have a 12″ skillet and it took 15 min with the amount of ingredients mention above.
